It's funny but the most frequently asked question about classes is: I want to take an art class but I don't know anything. Can I still take a class? If you knew everything , we'd want you as a teacher not a student. And hey, beginners are really easy to teach because they have no bad habits. Whether you're a child, teen or adult (but when it comes to art, aren't we all trying to paint with the freedom of a child?) come down to explore how our classes work and join the world of art!
Swinton's has many different classes besides our regular program that runs from sept to June. Here are just a few more ways to acquire more knowledge.
At Swinton's, all of our classes are based on a month to month enrollment for your conveinience. That way you can take classes for as long as you like. At the end of the month a student is automatically put forward to continue their instruction for the next month, they just have to pay the class fee's to hold their spot.Due to the nature to the amount of classes we offer, you must call Swinton's for current class availability.

Adult Classes
Every instructor is an experienced professional. Each instructor teaches drawing and painting in all mediums, to everyone, from the absolute beginner up to the advanced student. Students select the class-time that best suits their schedule, and their favourite medium. Oils, pastels, drawing etc, or even a different medium each day, it's up to the student. Classes are small and each student is taught individually within the group environment. Instructors spend time with each student, demonstrating, and explaining the principles particular to the specific types of art materials.
Pick the time that best works for you. Classes are offered three times daily.
Monday to Friday
9am - 12pm | 1pm - 4pm | 6pm - 9pm
Saturday
9:40am - 12:30pm and 1pm - 4pm
FEE: $90 per month + G.S.T (based on four 3 hour classes per month) Choose a day and come every week on that day for a month.
Children's Classes

Children's classes are structured the same as the adult classes. Children learn at their own pace, in the medium of their own choice, under the guidance of their instructor.
Choose from 2 hour sessions or 1 1/2 hour sessions.
- Tues, Wed, Thurs: 4:20-5:50pm
- Friday: 6-8pm
- Saturday: 9:00-10:30am, 10:45-12:45pm, 1:30-3:30pm
- Sunday: 12:30-2pm, 2:30-4pm
FEE: 2 hour classes: $67.50 +G.S.T or 1.5 hour classes: $60.00 +G.S.T
Sampler Classes
Try A New Medium!
If you don’t have time for the extended sampler class try one or all of these mini sampler classes. All supplies are included and you will receive an introduction of how to work with each medium.
"Dancer" by childrens class

These courses are designed for anyone who would like to try different mediums out before investing in classes and supplies. Supplies are included and the class is three hours long. Class begins with a brief demo and discussion of various techniques. Participants will then experiment with new techniques, and finish class by painting a still life. Please arrive early as this workshop is packed with information!
All Supplies are included:
- Watercolor Sampler class January 26th, 1:30-4:30 pm
- Pastel Sampler class February 2nd, 1:30-4:30 pm
- Oil Sampler class February 9th, 1:30-4:30 pm
- Acrylic Sampler class February 16th, 1:30-4:30 pm
Fee: $40 for each class.

NEW Extended Summer sampler classes
- Oil Extended Sampler Workshop
This class is an extension of what is covered in the Oil Sampler class. It is intended for the absolute beginner and will focus on color theory as well as painting techniques. You will be amazed how easy oil painting really is! Every student will walk out of the class with a finished masterpiece.

- Acrylic Extended Sampler Workshop
Ever wanted to try to paint with acrylics? Come to this class and discover all of the tricks you will need to know to combat the rapid drying time of this medium. This class is for the beginner acrylic painter, no experience is necessary.

- Watercolor Extended Sampler Workshop
Discover the beautiful fluidity of watercolor. This class is a great class to teach you some techniques and a few tricks of how to work with the paint. It’s a class designed for the aspiring artist to get you up and painting!
