Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils
PITT® artists' pastel pencils, with their oil-free leads are used by artists not only as the perfect complement to pastel crayons for elaborating details, but also on their own. PITT® pastel pencils have a compact lead containing the highest quality pigments, they are ideally suited for drawing lines and shading as well as blending.
Faber-Castell's Pitt Pastel Pencils are very suitable for lines, shading, and delicate color transitions, and also for extended areas. Use them for sketches, studies, portraits, still-lifes, and landscape drawings.
They give a smooth flow of color without being used up too rapidly. Colors are rich in pigment, allowing dense shading. They do not change on fixing or exposure to light.
Wood-cased Pitt Pastel Pencils do not dirty the fingers, and the leads are free of oils. They can easily be wiped to merge areas of colors, which means that they must then be fixed to protect the drawing.
Pencils are sold individually and are pre-sharpened. Individual lightfastness ratings are printed on each pencil's casing.
PITT® Pastel Pencils use the same ingredients as Polychromos® Pastels. The difference between the products is that you can create finer details with the pencils. Both ranges match each other perfectly and are great when used together. PITT® Pastel Pencils, using Faber-Castell®’s secure SV bonding process, have superior pencil strength to other brands. Their unique cellulose binder allows for smooth color lay down and excellent color opacity. PITT® pencils work well with other brands of soft pastels. Drawings done with pastels must be fixed with a fixative to prevent smudging, otherwise the pigments fall off the paper.
