Try your hand at the age old art of block printing.
Carve your own design, ink it and make prints of your artwork.
You will start with the basics of how to use Lino cutter handles and various nibs, to learn proper carving techniques. Then in the last hour you will set-up a printing station, mix ink and make ink slabs. You will experiment with various colour gradients, using brayers, inking the blocks and printing with barons.
By the end of the workshop you will have some beautiful art to share and the knowledge to do it again and again. :)
Block Printing has been around for thousands of years. There are many different techniques, but it is essentially using a carved material covered in ink to transfer an image on to paper or fabric. Block printing can be done with wood, linoleum, rubber, or many other materials, but we will use linoleum for this workshop.
