Hi, my name is James R. Gordon and I am a professional artist born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I have loved to draw and doodle my whole life and I have been lucky enough to make a living out of something I am passionate about.

I learned a lot about art and technique while managing a small art store here in Calgary. I took lessons from Doug Williamson and attended various workshops with Martinho Correia. As much as these artists have influenced me, the majority of my knowledge has come through trial and error working away in my studio. I have spent quite a bit of time studying through the recreation of the old Master's work however I am still learning and experimenting with new techniques all the time.

Typically, I can be found painting still life's directly from life in my home studio. My range of subject includes everything from still life's to city and landscapes. I prefer to work in oil but do have some experience with acrylic and water. I have been teaching for the last 5 years and have experience teaching all ages and all styles of art. Teaching has really helped me expand my own knowledge base.

I have taken part in various art shows throughout Calgary and was one of the featured artists in the 2011 Unseen Artists show at the Art Point Gallery.
