Service Description

Date & Time: Thursday, July 11, 9:00 - 4:00 pm Friday, July 12, 9:00 - 4:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 9:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday, July 14, 9:00 - 4:00 pm WORKSHOP COST: $750.00 CAD Feel free to put your name down at no cost. Swinton's will contact you for payment via E-Transfer to avoid processing fees. Location: 7160 Fisher St SE, Calgary. (Swinton's Art Supplies) This is an outdoor workshop. (Plein-Air) Students will meet up for an hour on the first day and be given a map to the locations for the week. Instructor: Mitch Baird Home of the world-famous Canadian Stampede and Banff National Park, Calgary offers a lot to paint and with over 300 days of sunshine a year, great Plein-air weather to capture the majestic Northern Rockies. The class will discuss the way the optics of the eye work with seeing light, form, atmosphere and space. The fundamental principles of painting – composition, drawing, value, colour, and edges will also be stressed. Each day we will begin with a demo covering the principles mentioned above. Individual attention will be a high priority as well as laughs and lots of enthusiasm! Please view the supply list at checkout or on our "Artist Workshops" page. Location Information: Locations will be given on the day of the first class. Everyone will meet up at Swinton's for the first hour of the first class. - One river day (with mountains in the background) - Three mountain days
