(Swinton's Art Supplies) Levels: Beginner to Advanced (All levels are welcome) Instructor: Ashley Gaboury Medium: Drawing Adult Drawing Course. This portrait drawing class, taught by Ashley Gaboury, introduces students to the Andrew Loomis method, a clear and practical system for drawing the human head with confidence. Using simple shapes and proportions, students will learn how to construct the head from multiple angles before moving into features, expression, and rendering. Ashley begins by breaking the head down into basic forms to help students understand structure, balance, and placement. From there, students will study facial features and proportions, learning how to build accurate likenesses and refine their drawings through careful observation. As the course progresses, Ashley guides students through essential rendering techniques to bring their portraits to life. Topics include light and shadow, value control, edge quality, and creating form through shading. Emphasis is placed on process and clarity, helping students develop a repeatable and confident approach to portrait drawing.
