Monthly Art Instruction For Adults + Workshops
Oil, Acrylic, Graphite and Charcoal are mediums welcome in my classes.
Cheryl works as a full-time artist based in Calgary, Alberta, but has her urban scenes and landscapes in galleries in both BC and Alberta. She has been painting in oil for over 30 years.

Adult Class Times:
Thursdays: 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Thursdays 6:00 - 9:00 pm
The primary inspiration behind all Cheryl’s work is the depiction of light. That, combined with the seasons and changing light allow her to tell a different story each time she paints. This diversity keeps her continually inspired and motivated to paint. Further, Cheryl was a graphic designer prior to moving into fine art, so she’s had a lifelong interest in creating compelling designs with light and shadow.
In 2014, Cheryl began ‘plein air’ painting – painting outdoors from life. It opened her to a new way of seeing and living as an artist. Cheryl paints outside year-round, and likes knowing that she’s spent time experiencing each location she paints. Even paintings she creates fully in-studio begin with sketching and study outdoors. This connect her to her work more intimately than if she’d just snapped a photo for a reference, then moved along.

Artist Statement
The reason I paint, and what I encourage in my students, is to see and better appreciate the moments of beauty in life. These small moments can often become our life’s biggest memories. Creating art from them allows me to experience and treasure them more fully.
