Make a Mixed media painting of your own! Evelyn Caro will take you through an introduction to these wonderful modern mediums. There are so many ways to explore in Mixed Media; however, for this particular sampler and for an introduction, you will be diving into integrating acrylics, watercolours and dry media. (Swinton's Art Supplies) This sampler class is the perfect introduction to the exciting and versatile world of modern mixed media. Guided by Evelyn Caro, you’ll explore how different materials can work together to create layered, expressive, and unexpected results. In this hands-on session, Evelyn will introduce you to the fundamentals of combining acrylic paint, watercolour, and dry media such as pencil, charcoal, or pastel. You’ll experiment with mark-making, transparency, texture, and layering—learning how each medium behaves on its own and how they can complement one another when used together. This class is designed as a low-pressure, exploratory sampler, ideal for artists who are curious about mixed media but unsure where to start. Rather than focusing on a finished piece, the emphasis is on play, discovery, and building confidence with new materials. You’ll leave with a variety of small studies, techniques, and ideas you can continue to develop in your own practice. Samplers are designed for beginners or anyone wanting to try out different mediums before investing in workshops and supplies. Samplers are 3 hours long, and all supplies are included. We begin with a brief demo and discussion of various techniques. Participants will experiment and create their own artwork. If you want to try something new or have never painted before, or even if you already have a favourite medium, sampler classes are a great way to expand your artistic horizons.
