(Swinton's Art Supplies) - All demos will be done in oil, acrylic painters welcome - Artists will paint from their own photo references - see supply list ~Have you always wanted to paint animals (Dogs? Kitties? Horses? Pigs???) But were you filled with fear because you thought it was too difficult? ~Or has this subject been on your bucket list; something you’ve wanted to explore but haven’t found the time? ~Or maybe your animal paintings are leaving you feeling that you’re not achieving the freshness you desire? Experience the pleasure of putting brush marks on canvas ... without labouring over drawing and measuring. In this fun workshop, you will learn a simplified approach to painting your favourite animal that will take away all of your fears and allow you to experience the joy of putting paint on a canvas ... as well as creating a beautiful painting. We’ll focus on simplifying a complex reference photo by painting small, quickish preliminary studies of our subjects. By focusing on lots of “starts” and the “fundamentals of painting”, you’ll come away with some wonderful insights and tools. We will touch on all the ‘simple ideas’ that Bobbi emphasizes in her teaching that you can take away to build a strong, beautiful painting. Ideas that will help take the mystery out of painting animals! You’ll learn how to create a lovely painting using distinctive brushwork and brave paint application; learn to “push ideas” and look for exciting “possibilities” in your work. All these elements will be emphasized and explored in our ‘starts’ and studies. On the first morning of this exciting and fun 2-Day Workshop, Bobbi will do some painting demonstrations illustrating the “start” of a painting, while explaining her process and answering all your questions.
