The Art of Framing: A Personal Journey

Updated: 4 days ago

I’ve sold a whackload of paintings over the years. Once they leave the studio, they basically enter the witness protection program. I never see them again. I don’t get to see the fancy frame you picked, or how it looks in your living room, or if it’s now hanging above the cat’s scratching post.

I put in all the sweat, caffeine, and questionable dance moves to make the painting happen. And then poof! — out the door. Gone forever.

A Virtual Reunion with My Art

So when I saw one of my pieces dropped into a fake frame on a fake wall? Weirdly enough, it felt like getting a true last dance. A moment to see it living somewhere, even if it was all smoke and mirrors.

Which brings me to this: If you’ve got one of my paintings, I’d love to see it in its natural habitat. Tag me, text me, send me a pic. Whether it’s the star of your dining room or gathering dust under the guest bed, I don’t care — I want to see it.

Because at the end of the day, that’s the fun part: knowing the art gets to keep dancing long after it leaves me.

Share Your Art Experience

Thanks for keeping my dream alive. And hey, if nothing else, it beats me downloading another frame app and pretending like a potato in a tuxedo.

Happy New Year. All the best for 2026.

Your friend in art,

Doug.

P.S. If you have a frame app, what do you use? Send pictures of your work on a wall.

Why Framing Matters

Framing art is more than just a decorative choice. It can enhance the overall aesthetic of a room. A well-chosen frame complements the artwork and the space it occupies. It can also protect the art from dust, moisture, and UV rays.

When you frame a piece, you create a visual boundary that draws attention. It helps the viewer appreciate the details and colors of the artwork. So, if you have a favorite piece, consider how it’s framed.

The Impact of Art in Your Space

Art has a unique ability to transform a space. It can evoke emotions, spark conversations, and even inspire creativity. Whether it’s a vibrant painting or a subtle sketch, art adds personality to your home.

Imagine walking into a room adorned with your favorite pieces. Each artwork tells a story, reflecting your tastes and experiences. It’s a way to express who you are without saying a word.

Embracing Technology in Art

In today’s digital age, technology plays a significant role in how we experience art. Apps that allow you to visualize art in your space are becoming increasingly popular. They provide a fun and interactive way to see how a piece will look before making a purchase.

These tools can help you make informed decisions. They allow you to experiment with different styles and frames. Plus, it’s a great way to share your art collection with friends and family.

The Art Community Connection

Art is not just about the pieces themselves; it’s about the community that surrounds it. Artists, collectors, and enthusiasts all share a passion for creativity. Connecting with others who appreciate art can be incredibly rewarding.

Social media platforms have made it easier than ever to share your art journey. You can showcase your collection, discover new artists, and even collaborate on projects. This sense of community can inspire you to explore new styles and techniques.

The Role of Art in Personal Growth

Art can also play a significant role in personal growth. Engaging with art, whether through creation or appreciation, can foster self-reflection and emotional expression. It encourages you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a visual format.

Creating art can be therapeutic. It allows you to express emotions that may be difficult to articulate. This process can lead to greater self-awareness and understanding.

Conclusion: Celebrate Your Art Journey

Art is a journey that continues long after it leaves the studio. Whether you’re framing it digitally or displaying it in your home, the connection remains. I encourage you to share your experiences with my work. Let’s keep the conversation going and celebrate the beauty of art together.

That feeling of "smoke and mirrors" while trying to keep track of your creations is a sentiment shared by anyone who has ever had to manage a complex, moving system.

In FNaF, you are the ultimate "witness" to things that move when they shouldn't. You spend your night staring at monitors, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of the animatronics in their "natural habitat" (the hallways) before they disappear again. Just as you want to see your paintings "keep dancing" after they leave the studio, a player in Five Nights at Freddy's is constantly checking the cameras to see where the "art" has gone.
